Super Mario World Shrine
First released in 1990, Super Mario World is the main launch title and, in my opinion, de facto killer app of the SNES.

Why Do I Love It?
SMW is heralded as one of the best 2D platformers of all-time, and for good reason. Personally, it's difficult to pinpoint why I myself love it as much as I do, but I suppose I gotta start describing it somewhere.
First: the secrets. One of my favorite things about the game is the sheer amount of hidden areas and/or secrets in nearly all the levels. There's so much to discover and find that going through each nook and cranny will definitely take you a while. But my favorite aspect of the secrets has to be the secret exits. The mystique and possibilities of each keyhole is awesome, and the fact that they open up various alternate paths or even entire new levels is even more awesome and satisfying, and my favorite part of discovering them. It's why I pretty much go through all 96 exits each time I play through the game.
Second: the variety and level design. With 72 levels and 7 different main areas, Super Mario World offers a lot of variety in it's locales.
Secrets Guide
I originally aimed to have the whole guide in this page, but since it's gotten enormous, I have split it into its own subpage.
